Naam: Eunbee Cho (20, first year of International Communication and Media)
Describe your style? ‘Casual vintage. I was very happy when Urban Outfitters opened in Amsterdam. I also like Monki. Apart from that I haven't really gone shopping in the Netherlands yet. I get a lot of inspiration from a site from South Korea, where I'm from, called Hiphoper. It's a community about style, street fashion, brands. Any kind, not just hiphop/urban. I only read and watch what others post.’
Major dislikes? ‘Flower patterns for girls. I don't like clothes girly. For men, I don't like it when jeans are worn so low you can see their undies. And I don't like skin-tight shirts.’
Music? ‘Acoustic music, jazzy hiphop – not aggressive. I like Sound Providers, Sam Ock, Kero One. This morning I was listening to Jazzyfact, a band from South Korea.’
Last concert/party? ‘A house warming party in Delft, last Friday. With mostly students from the conservatory in The Hague, who all study jazz – bass, guitar, vocal. So you can guess what kind of music was played at the party…’
Film? ‘Before Sunrise. A beautiful story about a boy and a girl who meet in a train, hop off in Vienna and spend time together until sunrise. I loved the movie so much I went to Vienna and visited the locations they used in the movie. I ended up in a record store where I spent hours, listening to music and chatting to the owner. The owner was so nice, I got free espresso even though I didn't buy anything.’
Sports? ‘At home I like surfing and snowboarding.’
App? ‘Candy Crush. I play it every day. On the bus, or when I'm waiting for someone.’
Where do you live? ‘In a building in Utrecht with twelve other students, four per level. All international students, most from Europe.’
Part time job or study grant? ‘My parents pay for my study. It's not handy for me to work here, because of the work permit and the taxes. I would hardly earn anything.’
Are you religious? ‘No. But I totally respect people who are. They usually have straightforward values.’
What grade would you give your life right now? ‘A 9. I'm a happy person. I don't think perfection exists, and it's good to still have a gap between a 9 and a 10. Maybe I'd give a higher grade after graduation.’
Club or cafe? ‘Cafe.’
Meat or vega? ‘Vega. I'm not a vegetarian but I prefer vegetarian food to food with meat.’
Blind or deaf? ‘Deaf’
One night stand or relationship? ‘Relationship.’
Man or woman? ‘Man.’
Morning person or night owl? ‘Night owl.’
Dog or cat? ‘Dog. I've always wanted a dog, but was never allowed one. Maybe my life would be a 10 with a dog, yes, haha.’
Facebook, Instagram or Tinder? ‘Facebook.’
London, Berlin of Paris? ‘None. When I was in London I hated the weather, in Berlin it was too cold and I got lost, and Paris was dirty and the people impolite. But with good weather: London.’
What would you like to become? ‘I'd like to have a cultural business of my own. A place for young artists to showcase their talents. A place for painters to show their paintings, for singers to perform… I'd like to be the bridge between the artist and their audience.’
